Al Jeffery Received the CD in the post this morning, fantastic presentation and actually receiving a part of the woodland where the album is recorded is truly touching. A great mix of ambient styles, this is my soundtrack to Autumn already - having been on constant repeat most of the morning! I shall be looking forward to future releases from Assembly Field, this is beautifully compiled. Favorite track: Savaran - The Calling.

Michael LoCicero I can not praise this release enough. The FIELD RECORDINGS surrounding these 9 BEAUTIFUL tracks is truly AMAZING. The STORY about CROSS HILL with the accompanying goodies in this package explaining what was once called ASSEMBLY FIELD. This coming from an American. Phil I Thank You ever so much, You did a TOP NOTCH job here....mike.....after several more playing's, I do believe this is one of my FAVORITE of 2015

‘The village of Thingwall in Wirral, UK was originally called Assembly Field and dates back to the 10th century. The village and surrounding areas have a strong Viking heritage and at that time a Viking parliament was held at Thingwall at a piece of land known as Cross Hill. I went to Cross Hill and made a field recording of various environmental sounds and then invited artists to create a track that contained the field recording in some shape or form, the result being The Cross Hill Recordings.
